A report published by the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF) into egg safety has shown a major reduction in the risk from salmonella in UK eggs. Responding to the report the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has launched an eight week consultation reviewing the advice given to consumers on eating lightly cooked or raw eggs. FSA will publish their findings after 16 September. Until then their current advice stands.

A group of midwives who work for Portsmouth Hospital Trust are aiming to raise £4,000. The midwives hope to refurnish the Maternity bereavement suite at Queen Alexandra Hospital. They are taking part in the 10 mile Great South Run in October 2016. Donna Ockenden (former PHT Midwife, Chief Midwife and Divisional Clinical Director) is a keen supporter of the team.

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has criticised Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for its slow pace of progress in addressing mental health concerns. Darren is frustrated that the Board still has no Mental Health Strategy, despite being 12 months on from the publication of the report into ‘institutional abuse’ on the Tawel Fan Ward and into the Board being placed into Special Measures by the Welsh Government.
