Baby loss awareness week takes place from 9th – 15th October 2023. As both an Ambassador for SANDS and the Honorary President of Babylifeline, I am proud to support this week which is a collaboration between more than 60 charities across the UK, which aims to raise awareness about the key issues affecting those who have experienced pregnancy or baby loss in the UK.
This video marks the 20th year of Baby Loss Awareness Week, which is held annually from the 9th to the 15th of October. It is a special opportunity to not only raise awareness of miscarriage and baby loss in the UK, but to also remember the lives of those babies that died too soon, either through miscarriage, or around the time of their birth.
This week is also an important opportunity for siblings, grandparents, and all members of a family affected by baby loss to come together in rememberance – though not often spoken about, your experience, and your grief, is so important.
At the end of the week, I (alongside my family, and my team) will be taking part in the international Wave of Light, on the 15th of October. People from all around the word can participate by lighting a candle at 7pm local time in memory of their babies, or in solidarity with those that are grieving. You can join this virtual event by taking a picture of your candle and posting it under #WaveofLight.
