Success is keeping patients alive, overworked staff tell damning report into North Wales mental health unit

North Wales families may finally receive “peace of mind” after a report into mental health failings was made public today – eight years after it was written.

The Holden Report was compiled in 2013 following complaints by staff at the 42-bed Hergest psychiatric unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

A redacted summary was released in 2015 warning the unit was “in serious trouble”.
