Some progress’ made at Shropshire hospital trust
The BBC reports that The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspected the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) in August.
The Trust has been in special measures since 2018 and its maternity services are subject of a review following a high rate of baby and maternal deaths.
The CQC said SaTH still had “significant work to do” to improve its patient care and safety standards.

A report exposing extensive problems with patient safety in a north Wales mental health unit has finally been made public after nearly eight years.
ITV Cymru Wales revealed details of the report after receiving a leaked copy last year, but Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board tried to prevent the report’s publication despite the Information Commissioner’s Office ruling they should be released in 2020.
The health board always maintained that publishing it would breach the confidence of members of staff who contributed to it.

A redacted summary was released in 2015 warning the unit was “in serious trouble”.

Mental health: Health board apologises for woman’s care failings
A health board has apologised for failings in the care of an elderly woman who was being treated at a mental health unit.
Jean Graves spent nine weeks at Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Hergest unit in 2013 after struggling with anxiety and depression.
Her son said she was left “severely malnourished” and a watchdog said there were several failings in her care.
Betsi Cadwaladr health board has issued a “sincere apology”, including for how concerns were dealt with.
